The Begum of Bollywood Kareena Kapoor Khan is breaking all the stereotypes of pregnancy myths. Generally all bollywood beauties stay away from the limelight during their pregnancy but beautiful Bebo never hesitated to pose for the shutterbugs. Pregnant Kareena Kapoor, who is expecting her second child with actor-husband Saif Ali Khan, is surely giving her fans a hard core pregnancy goals of every sort.
Kareena continues to work even through her pregnancy, has become an icon to the modern-day working woman. Don’t you think so? She is still working, managing those hectic schedules like she earlier used to do. She is looking radiant and is in the very much pink of health. But it’s not just the pregnancy glow but there is something more to it. Let’s see –
At 40, pregnant Kareena Kapoor Khan is one of the most sought after actresses of Bollywood. She went candid about her enriching experience and some of the age-old myths linked to pregnancy and the associated diet. Gorgeous mom-to-be along with the leading nutrition and wellness expert Rujuta Diwekar (who is not only her dietitian but a friend also) held a live Facebook chat where they discussed healthy eating, pregnancy cravings and so much more.
Here is what a stunningly beautiful actress stated,
“I think everybody has been thinking that I am overeating these days, which I am not. It is not important for you to eat more because you are pregnant. Just because you’re carrying another person inside you, it doesn’t mean you have a liberty to eat 20 chapattis. Rujuta and I firmly believe that one needs to carry on doing what she has been doing before getting pregnant, just stick to your normal routine.”
She further added, “I think there is the concept that you’re eating for two, but you’re actually eating for yourself. There is no hard and fast rule that you have to eat double of everything. I’m always making sure I keep having small meals at regular intervals and spread it out because your digestion slows down during pregnancy. I eat a lot of curds, especially in the morning and lunchtime because it really helps my gut health and digestion. So that is something I always, always do. In fact, I’m quite conscious of where my product is coming from.”
In pregnancy, craving for some pretty strange foods is quite common but Kareena’s cravings left us quite baffled. Bebo admitted craving KARELA (bitter gourd) ever since she got pregnant.
“I am craving for karela these days. I really like the taste, I enjoy the taste. Many say that when you add a bit of sugar its bitterness kind of goes away but I don’t like that. I like the fact that it has a sort of bitter, pungent taste to it. It is extremely rich in iron and has all kinds of benefits. I love all kinds of vegetables, in fact today’s lunch was lauki matar.” she chuckled.
Isn’t it sounds strange? But pregnant Kareena Kapoor loves to eat sweets too. She revealed,
“I am also very strangely enjoying a lot of Indian sweets more than the pastries, cakes, whipped cream. I think that I’m eating more home-based sweets, whether it’s the suji ka pedas or besan ka laddoos. I’m trying to be as good and healthy.”
I know you all must be still wondering for Karela…LOL!
Rujuta explained very well on her cravings. According to her, one of the main reasons Kareena’s craving the home-made mithai, unlike the western sweets is because they’re low on the glycemic index and have blood sugar regulating properties. This allows iron, calcium and minerals to reach the various cells that require energy. According to Rujuta, during pregnancy, you crave things that are more healthy for you because you’re more intuitive. It’s also apparently the reason Kareena is craving karela because the vegetable is also known for blood sugar regulating properties, and helps with mood stability.
Pregnant Kareena Kapoor’s ADVICE
ON PREGNANCY
There are some dietary restrictions while you are pregnant. She advised –
“You need to watch out what you are consuming, eating everything doesn’t mean that you have the liberty to have anything at any random hour you wish for. Packed foods should be avoided as they have preservatives and so many things added to them.”
ON INDIAN DIET
“We have a variety of accessible and economical home grown vegetables. One should experiment with those instead of trying to ape Western diet. I can’t live my life eating just broccoli and spinach.”
ON FITNESS
Kareena concluded –
“Some of the girls out there really starve themselves to get six-pack abs but I think life is not about that. Everybody wants to look great but if you are able to do it with the right food, with a glowing skin and by removing all the fears of not having ghee or a paratha, I think that is greater than having six-pack abs.”
Kareena, you are looking like a million bucks with your baby bump. Your pregnancy gives a whole new meaning to being beautiful inside and out !
